Use Map Module Tips and Tricks

Ensure SOD assignment is validated: Be aware of conflicting positions when mapping.

  • SOD (Segregation of Duties): The assignment of job duties to multiple individuals to prevent fraud or conflict of interest

Avoid Over-Mapping: There is a strong tendency to over map employees.

  • Mapping is based on what tasks an end user needs to do their job on “day 1”, and positions must be mapped consistently to accomplish this task
  • Ensure SOD conflicts are resolved

Avoid Narrow Changes: Position changes should not occur based on an individual’s needs.

  • The project team must create each position so that it applies to all employees who will be assigned to the position
  • Over time, employees will change companies or roles, but the position will continue to apply to all employees who perform this role

Assign Appropriate Training: Training is mapped to the position.

  • Adding responsibilities to a position probably will require more training for employees mapped to this position

Mappers can list multiple employees in the Employee ID (Lookup) field

  • List the Employee IDs, separated by commas (no spaces!)

Mappers can list direct reports who report to a manager

  • Enter the Manager’s ID in the Employee ID (Lookup) field
  • Additional options: select the Search direct reports or Search entire org tree checkboxes
